In 2024, Abastran Sp. z o.o. completed the design and construction of a modern, covered open-air stage in Inowłódz.

 

The structure is based on a steel frame and covered with a durable PVC membrane resistant to harsh weather conditions. The membrane was designed to effectively drain rainwater while providing maximum protection against sun and precipitation.

 

Thanks to its translucent surface, the area under the canopy remains bright and comfortable. The lightweight, contemporary form blends harmoniously with the natural surroundings. The adjacent paved surface and pedestrian paths enhance both functionality and aesthetics of the entire recreational area.

In 2023, Abastran Sp. z o.o. completed the design documentation for a modern canopy over the open-air stage at the municipal amphitheatre in Bartoszyce, creating a functional and weatherproof venue for cultural events.

 

The canopy is based on arched steel supports in a brick-red colour, covered with a durable PVC technical membrane resistant to UV, rain, and wind. The structure fits harmoniously into the surrounding park and city square.

 

The stage is surrounded by a spacious square with decorative paving and a semi-circular audience area with benches. Technical equipment allows for full event support, combining modern engineering with thoughtful public space design.

Covering an area of 710 m², the canopy not only provides protection against the elements, but also enhances the acoustics of the venue thanks to the integration of an acoustic mesh.

A PVC membrane was stretched over a steel frame to create a new shaded space in the heart of the schoolyard. The simple, geometric form of the structure blends well with the surrounding school buildings while significantly improving the comfort of outdoor use during sunny days.

In 2015, we designed and completed a modern canopy at Miners’ Square in Jaworzno—now known as the “Ray” (Płaszczka).

 

The canopy is located in the very heart of the city, between Jaworzno Planty Park, the sports and entertainment hall, and the shopping mall. The dynamic, streamlined shape of the structure reflects the urban character of the location and creates a striking feature in the public space.

 

Under the canopy, covered by a 680 m² membrane, there is an ice rink in winter and a bicycle parking area with social facilities in summer. Multifunctionality, aesthetics, and durability are the key strengths of this project.

The project involves the use of two modular Phylium membrane canopy systems, designed by Abastran. Their distinctive, dynamic form not only provides effective shading but also serves as an attractive visual element, harmoniously blending into the kindergarten garden surroundings.

The skylights, measuring 90 x 450 cm and filled with transparent ETFE pneumatic cushions, provide excellent daylight transmission and high thermal insulation while reducing the overall weight of the structure. The entire project fits the industrial character of the facility, combining modern technologies with the functionality of the exhibition space.

 

The project serves as an example of the use of innovative membrane solutions in institutional construction and the potential for integrating natural light into large, enclosed spaces.

The project included a canopy over the restaurant terrace at the Manggha Museum, designed as a tensioned PVC membrane on a steel structure. The roof form, inspired by a wave, referenced the Japanese aesthetic of the building and its riverside surroundings.

 

A winter garden was also envisioned, using ETFE foil pneumatic cushion technology, offering lightness, high light transmission, and year-round functionality. Both elements were designed to ensure maximum integration with greenery and the existing architecture.

The design envisions a harmonious and natural combination of two canopies into a large-scale covering, ensuring comfort and functionality of the amphitheatre regardless of weather conditions.

 

The arched form and modern, dynamic shape create an attractive structure that would blend well with the landscape.
