Summer Theater in Kasprowicz Park
Szczecin, Poland
Description
The Summer Theater in Kasprowicz Park in Szczecin is one of the most recognizable cultural facilities in the city and an important venue for artistic events. The venue was designed by Zbigniew Abrahamowicz in the 1970s and has remained a significant point on the map of Szczecin’s cultural life ever since.
The reconstruction of the theater was carried out on the basis of the winning concept of the British studio Flanagan Lawrence, giving it a new, modern and functional form while preserving its symbolic character. The central element of the complex remains the reinforced concrete arch — the key architectural motif of the amphitheater — retained in its original form as a reference to the history of the facility.
Thanks to the reconstruction, the Summer Theater has become a unique example of combining historic architecture with modern construction technologies, serving as a symbol of the region’s cultural development and an attractive destination for lovers of art and architecture.
