Conceptual Design for the Manggha Museum in Kraków
Poland
Description
We developed a conceptual design for a winter garden built of pneumatic ETFE cushions and a PVC membrane roof covering the restaurant of the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology.
The project envisaged a roof over the restaurant terrace at the Manggha Museum in the form of a tensioned PVC membrane on a steel structure. The roof’s wave-inspired form referenced the Japanese aesthetics of the building and its setting on the banks of the Vistula.
A winter garden was also planned using pneumatic ETFE film cushions, offering lightness, high light transmission and year-round functionality. Both elements were designed with maximum integration with the greenery and existing architecture in mind.
