ETFE Cushions – Kędzierzyn-Koźle

In 2019, ETFE film cushions were installed at the “Wodne oKKo” Activity Centre in Kędzierzyn-Koźle — a modern example of this technology being used in Poland. Although ETFE is still rarely encountered on the domestic market, it is increasingly being used in buildings that require high light transmission, such as swimming pools or botanical gardens.

The project used ETFE film, characterized by high durability and weather resistance. Two elongated ETFE cushions were designed, stretched over the steel roof frame of the building, giving the effect of a lightweight and aesthetically pleasing structure while providing excellent interior daylighting.

The ETFE cushions enable maximum use of natural light thanks to the high transparency of the material. Their shape is maintained by an air supply system, which ensures the proper tension, durability and stable form of the structure.
