Roof design for the stands of the stadium on Ul. The Startowa in Bielsko-Biała, completed in 2020, is an important part of the modernization of the city’s sports infrastructure. The 213.5 m² roof was designed to provide spectators with protection from the elements, making it possible to organize sporting and cultural events all year round.
The roof construction is based on steel rods made of rectangular profiles, which ensures high stability and longevity. Arched beams, together with beams that are arranged perpendicular to the beams and serve as their support, form the main supporting framework. The whole thing is additionally reinforced with cross struts, which serve as structural stiffeners. The PVC membrane used, stretched on arched supports, is the load-bearing element of the roof, stretched with gusset plates, which ensures its durability and aesthetic appearance.
A VERSAIDAG TXA-900 F TYPE II PVC membrane was used for the roof structure and rectangular steel profiles were used for the supporting structure.
